2014 – Carnarvon Gorge – Queensland

This trip featured the ‘Crusader X-Country Extreme’ towed by the Toyota Landcruiser 200 Series. We traveled up to Carnarvon Gorge for 3 weeks in Queensland in luxury. The Crusader was such a beautiful way to travel from tip to toe of this mighty country.

We were away for 3 weeks, towing the Extreme X-Country, specially built as a proto-type for us by Crusader, it was a luxurious van with all of the modern luxuries you would expect. Including a large inverter to run my coffee machine and microwave when we were free camping, which we did lots of, luxurious I know, but hey why not! We traveled with our 18 year old son, who opted to spend his nights in his swag outside, although he was toasty warm too.

We did both sides of the Gorge, which includes the 4WD section to test the off-road capabilities of the van, it performed superbly, people even asked us how we managed to get such a big van into the park since it is quite sandy, but it just towed beautifully and went where every the car did. Carnarvon Gorge is magnificent, there is a long walk to the ‘Big Bend’ which totals about 23km round trip, long day, but the scenery was magnificent, well worth the effort. We value our family time, its so important in this rush of a life, enjoy every moment you have with each other and enjoy our beautiful country.
